"Can I ask you something, Sheriff?" Mulder said.

"Yes," Tskany answered.

Mulder looked intently at Tskany. "Do you believe there's more to
this world than we can see with our eyes?"

Tskany shrugged. "I suppose so."

"Do you believe a man can shapeshift into a beast?" Mulder put his
hand on Tskany's arm.

Tskany stiffened. "I wouldn't have said so, but given the
evidence..."

"And do you believe in the intense, immediate, and vital connection
between two people who have just met?" Mulder moved his hand onto
Tskany's chest.

"You fucking faggot," Tskany said and punched Mulder in the face.
