"It's my birthday," Draco said. "Everything has to be perfect."
"It was supposed to be a surprise party," Harry said.
"I'll act surprised."
"Or I could cast a memory charm on you."
"You're not mucking with my brain." Draco took out a roll of parchment. "I've outlined some suggestions for you."
"You mean about what kind of cake you want, music you like, that sort of thing?"
Draco looked down his nose at Harry. "You weren't thinking of serving cake, were you? That's so crass."
"What did you want instead? Candied Flobberworm tongues?"
"I've noted the menu in section three, along with the address of the caterer."
"Caterer?" Harry reached for the parchment, but Draco pulled it out of the way.
"I'm not done yet." Draco unrolled it and scanned the text. "Now, when I make my entrance, I want you to put everyone who was ever mean to me over to the left." Draco looked up. "That ought to include you, but I'll let you off, obviously."
"How nice of you."
"But make sure Weasley is there."
"You're going to curse them, aren't you, Draco?"
The tip of Draco's nose turned pink. "Not curse. More like hex. A little."
"You can't do that!"
"But it's my birthday!"
Harry sighed. "What else do you have in there?"
"Let's see...an ice sculpture of a dragon -- not life-sized, of course. Live music -- I gave you three bands to choose from. It's a surprise party, after all." Draco unrolled the parchment further. "Precision flyby of the Oswinder Ogg Trained Owl Troupe..."
"Draco."
"...all new furniture, this stuff is so tacky..."
"Draco."
"...fireworks, champagne..."
"Draco!" Harry put his hand on Draco's wrist. "No."
"No?"
"No." Harry took the parchment and dropped it on the table. "Just some friends, some normal food, and Hermione's embarrassing party games."
"But it's my birthday!"
"There'll be presents."
"They had better be good ones."
"And afterward..."
"Yes?"
"I'll let you fuck me."
Draco bit his lip. "All right then."
"All right." Harry grinned.
"The presents had better be really good."
